April 3, 2010 I was dialing for plumbers and received a quote that sounded reasonable and affordable from Spartan Rooters to unclog the toilet in my 2 bed/1 bath apartment.
The representative who answered my call had given me a timeline w/i 2 hrs and stated the technician would call to confirm, and I could cancel at that time if needed. So, I agreed on a service call, but continued to dial other companies for quotes.
Another service company was enroute for a free estimate when I received a follow up call from Mark. He was successful on selling me on Spartan Rooter's service and affordability. Ultimately, I canceled the service call from the other company, and agreed to work with your company instead. One of the main reasons is because I was informed upfront on what to expect regarding cost, and the response time was actually less than 40 mins when I heard back from Mark.
I appreciated the timely service and he was professional, efficient, and knowlegeable. I was educated on the issue per the flapper and why the clog could happened.
Mark is an asset to your company because he is customer service oriented. I will refer others to Spartan ROOTER instead of the more recognized named Rooter Service Companies. FREE is not the best price for something that must be resolved. Integrity is the best price and that is what your company provided for me.

Description Of Work:
Installed a new air gap, rerouted the drainage under the kitchen sink and reinstalled a shower head.
Member Comments:
The plumber fixed a leak in the dishwashing system, noticed a problem in the way the draining system was set up and fixed that. Since there was still time left on the hour, he also fixed a shower head that I installed wrong. He was prompt, professional, and friendly.

Description Of Work:
I had a problem in the laundry room........water all over the floor. The next day the toilet started to back up.
Member Comments:
I am a happy camper! I thought the laundry problem and the toilet problem were related, which I found out would have been a much bigger problem. Turns out they were unrelated and both problems were fixed in under 1 hour. I called them around 10:00 this morning and he was out here in about 20 minutes. These guys are GOOD. I will use them again and tell all my friends.

Toilet and drain stopped up. cleaned both.
Member Comments:
Called on a Saturday. Responded w/in 1 hour. No extra charge for weekend work. Quickly explained approach, took out tools, did the work and was finished w/in an hour. We asked about an estimate for additional work; plumber said to contact office and arrange for estimating crew to come out and assess situation (he wasn't able to do estimates of more extensive repair work). He offered to make the call for us and set up the estimate.

Description Of Work:
Cleared my sewer drain clogged by a diaper.
Member Comments:
Late in the evening, my mother-in-law called me and asked for help with a clogged toilet. Every time she flushed the toilet it backed up and filled the tub. Being the handyman that I am, I purchased for $160 the biggest electric snake I could find. I spent approximately four hours that night digging diaper chucks that my niece had flushed down the toilet and the system was still plugged. The next day, I spent about another two hours at the cleanout in the yard and under the house (with water dripping all over me) and I still wasn’t able to clear the line. I decided at that point to call for help. The service I received was excellent; they were very prompt, friendly, informative, and had my drain cleared in 30 minutes. The total cost of the service was less than my big bad snake. Also, because the house has an orangeburg sewage line to the main, and the fact that I’ve had a history of roots and other problems at this house, the service guy suggested that at some point I’ll need to replace the line. He says that whether I use them or some other contractor, if it were him, he wouldn’t worry at this point. He then gave me some suggestions on how I could save money doing some of the work myself when it got to that point.

Description Of Work:
After septic was pumped by a different company, our plumbing was still clogged. Mark described how it should be corrected, and was successful in correcting the problem in about one hour!
Member Comments:
Our plumbing needed to be cleared from the septic inlet to the house. Others had recommended clearing from a removed toilet bowl hole to the inlet. We went to Angie's list to find a company who people were satisfied with and were rewarded with Mark's good work.

Clogged kitchen drain. Plumber snaked the drain.
Member Comments:
My sister had a clogged drain in her kitchen. As a renter her landlord told her it was her problem. Well, I knew who to call. Danielle had saved the day for my own rental not long ago. The plumber was amazingly quick in getting out to her house. He was also quick in finding and fixing the problem. He even gave my sister a few hints at drain maintenance, which she was very grateful for. My sister was so happy with their work. I'll keep Spartan on my speed dial.

Description Of Work:
After hours, plumber (Todd) opened an interior wall and cut out broken copper tubing/pipe to exterior hose faucet connection and replaced the same along with a new faucet. I had told his dispatcher that I thought the access to the broken copper pipe was via the crawl space under the house but he quickly (and correctly) determined that it was concealed inside a wall with a toilet on one side and a loaded bookcase on the other.
Member Comments:
In a moment of insanity, I thought I could fix a leaking exterior hose faucet. I got the supplies I thought were necessary during a day out shopping. I got home in the late afternoon & began the job. I soon realized I would have to completely replace the old faucet (I had bought a new one while out). I turned off the water to the house. When I turned the faucet with a wrench (expecting it come free from the inside threaded connection) I discovered it wasn't a galvanized pipe but rather copper and I had twisted the pipe in two. As I know nothing about using a tube cutter and torch to to "sweat" in a replacement pipe (and not having any of the necessary equipmentor parts) I was faced with finding a plumber after hours on a Friday or going w/o water until I could get someone to come out the following day. I called several plumbers from both Angie's List and the phone book but was initially unable to find a plumber that provided emergency service w/o costing my first born. I called a local chain who promised to send someone out to "bid" the job before dark (I was wary because this same chain had bid a job for me several years ago and then charged me three times the bid - they eventually refunded half the overcharge, but I still wasn't happy & didn't want to go through that again). I looked again at the list & realized I had missed this listing & they had great ratings. I called Danielle @ Spartan who said they wouldn't charge extra since it was a true emergency (no water) and would have Todd out ASAP. When I described the problem she guessed that it would cost about $200, She even reminded me to use the $20 Angie's List coupon. When Todd got here, he quickly sized up the problem and assisted me in moving some furniture to get at the copper pipe from inside the adjacent room to avoid having to remove a toilet to get to the water line that served both the toilet and the hose bib. He neatly cut into the wall, replaced the pipe/copper tube and suggested he use a better quality replacement faucet from his truck rather than the one I bought earlier (an extra $30 added to the bill). I agreed and he quickly and professionally completed the repair. When he totalled up all of his charges, the bill came to less than Danielle's original guess after the coupon was applied. This was the first positive experience I have had with a plumber in forty years!

Great experience. Mark from Spartan was very helpful and told me what I could do to keep the expense down. I dug out the old line then called Spartan. They had Ken out fast and the job was completed. It was nice to work with a contractor who would tell me what I can do to help save some money.

Description Of Work:
I had a claw foot tub constantly leaking hot water. The valves inside the faucet had to be replaced as well as the handles which were corroded.
Member Comments:
It was great. Very professional. Brian from Spartan discussed what was wrong and warned me that because of the type of tub the parts might be expensive. He then proceeded to temporarily repair the tub so that I could use it until he got the correct parts. He came back the next week and was able to repair it completely. He also gave me a written estimate for an upgrade I mentioned for the tub.

Description Of Work:
Inspection and unclogging of outside septic line.
Member Comments:
My renters called with an emergency toilet overflow. Things were spewing all over. Apparently work was being done in the back of our condo building, and they thought it was related. It was probably 3:00 in the afternoon, but I called Spartan and they were able to schedule and come out within the hour. The gentleman arrived right on time. He was able to assess the problem, and find a solution very quickly. You have no idea how much I appreciated being able to leave that problem to someone else. The dispatcher who was in charge of scheduling was also amazing. She was incredibly personable and understood the urgency of my situation clearly.

Description Of Work:
Spartan came out to take a look at my outside faucet which was leaking when on.
Member Comments:
They determined the issue and gave me the costs of the repair. Since it didn't need to be fixed right away, I decided to hold off. The gentleman gave me the estimated costs which were very reasonable and everything that would be involved in the repair. He also looked at the other faucet to gauge if there were any issues with it as well. There was no pressure and he was very professional and honest. There was no charge, even though he came out. I have previously paid at least $40 to other outfits just to come out, even if they didn't do anything. Once I decide to do the repair, will definitely use them.

Spartan came out and removed a kitchen faucet that had been a huge problem for us for several years. It was an old faucet that leaked terribly and then finally broke. It had fittings that were frozen so we couldn't remove the fixture at the wall to replace it because we were afraid that we'd break the old pipe in the wall. The guy came out and worked his tail off trying to loosen the nuts, and when he wasn't having any success he called a colleague who came out to help. Between the 2 of them they got the nuts off and removed the old faucet, then replaced it with a new one that has been trouble free ever since.
Member Comments:
Great! Both of the guys, sorry I can't remember their names as I write this, were professional and on time. They kept me informed all along the way including what they'd have to do if they needed to cut into the wall and replace some of the old pipe. They were up front about costs and did their best to keep their time as short as possible. They also made sure I knew about their coupons in the phone book so they saved me $20 off the bill. I'd call them again whenever I need a plumber.

The side sewer was jetted out to remove roots and blockage.
Member Comments:
I was very pleased with the quick response. I called at 2 pm and Craig was finished by 3:15. He was professional and got right to work, explained what he would do and did it. Afterward, he told me that he believed the line had a break in it that caused the blockage and that it would be cost-effective to just fix the break, rather than replace the entire line.

Installation of a new kitchen faucet
Member Comments:
I was able to get an appointment two days from the date I called, and I was given a two-hour window. The office called ahead to ask if I was available for him to show up ahead of schedule; I appreciated both the advance call and the schedule they were keeping. Ed was very professional in his work and did a wonderful job installing the faucet I had selected, and I found the price to be very reasonable compared to other places I had called for estimates.

This business and Marv's Backhoe are owned by the same man. They came out and replaced our old ceramic sewer line that had collapsed for $6,000 less than Pat's quoted us. Marv got it done in a half a day and Pat's told us it would take 2 whole days. There's more: We called Pat's the first time our line gave us trouble and they cleared it and charged us $600 to do it. The guy cleared it with high pressure water and then quoted us $10,000 to replace the line. We thankfully found Marv. Two days before Marv was scheduled to get to our line, it back-up again and Marv sent us one of his plumbers from Spartan. This guy mechanically cleared the line, saying that you never want to high-pressure clear an old collapsed ceramic line because it will make things worse - it digs up the surrounding dirt and creates more place for junk to catch - hmmmmmm.... Incidentally, Marv did not charge us for the plumber visit.

They suggested we call leak finders who could find our outside leak in a shorter period of time then they could. We did so which saved us money. They where very professional on the phone and sent out a really nice and professional man to do the work once the leak was located. They suggested a less expensive way to fix it then the other plumber we had out had suggested. They did the work quickly and we where very pleased with the company .

Description Of Work:
Cleaned plugged bathtub drain and two sink drains.
Member Comments:
I called them at 2:30 and they were at my house at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon. The receptionist was helpful and nice. The plumber inspected all my plugged drains and cleared them all in about an hour. He answered my questions about what caused the problem and how I could try to avoid having them clog in the future. I also asked him about a noise that my toilet was making and he assured me that it was only making a noise, not leaking water so I didn't need to worry about additional repairs if I was only worried about leaking water. On the whole he was professional, efficient and honest.

Description Of Work:
WE HAD A LEAKY WASHING MACHINE DRAIN IN OUR DUPLEX. WE TRIED TO SNAKE THE DRAIN, WHICH ONLY WORKED FOR A SHORT TIME. SPARTAN ROOTER DETERMINED THAT THERE MUST BE A CRACK IN THE LINE. THEY RE-ROUTED THE DRAIN LINE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE WALL RATHER THAN Jack hammering OUT THE CONCRETE TO GET AT THE EXISTING LINE.

IT IS A NICE CHANGE TO WORK WITH A COMPANY THAT GAVE ME SEVERAL DIFFERENT Scenarios, AS TO HOW WE COULD GO ABOUT FIXING THE PROBLEM. THEY CALLED ME AT HAME SEVERAL TIMES TO SET UP APPOINTMENTS AND THEY GAVE ME THE SOLUTION OPTIONS. THEY CLEANED UP THE UNIT WHEN THEY WERE DONE AND MY TENANTS SAID THEY WERE GREAT PEOPLE.
